During a therapy session at VB Psychotherapy, you can expect a secure and confidential environment where you can openly discuss your thoughts and feelings. Victoria will listen attentively, offer guidance, and work collaboratively with you to explore solutions and promote personal growth. Individual therapy sessions are conducted virtually, either via phone or a secure video platform. Typically, these sessions last 50 minutes, with the final 10 minutes reserved for the therapist to plan for the next session or handle administrative tasks.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a type of psychotherapy designed to help people process and heal from traumatic memories. It involves using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation (like taps or sounds) while the patient recalls distressing experiences. This technique aims to reduce the emotional intensity of these memories and help the brain reprocess them in a healthier way. EMDR is done in a safe and supportive environment, ensuring that the individual feels secure during the process. It is commonly used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related conditions.
Will I benefit from therapy? Will we be a good fit?
I genuinely believe that therapy can be beneficial for everyone, whether you're looking to work through struggles or better understand your emotions. Therapy can be both short-term or long-term, depending on your personal goals. To help ensure we’re a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can discuss your concerns and goals. This gives us a chance to get to know each other and determine if we’re the right match to work together.
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, helps people work through difficult thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. In a safe environment, a licensed therapist helps identify the causes of these issues and guides you in making positive changes. It can help with issues such as depression and anxiety or coping with stress, trauma, illness, or loss. Psychotherapists can work with individuals, couples, families, and groups in therapy.
